Born in Deggendorf Germany, Beyer first studied art history in Munich, then embarked on his first career as a computer scientist. Already as a teenager he had discovered his passion for art and painting, creating his first works in oil and watercolors, and going on to experiment with various other techniques and materials.
Since 2000 Horst Beyer has been living in Tuscany, near Florence. He continues his artistic work, focusing more and more on a unique approach: pictorial design using paint and stripped electrical cables. Initially he found such cables by chance by the side of the road and, fascinated by their potential for transformation, he began to explore their properties. Beyer creates meta-paintings which consist of an interweaving of electrical wires of different origins and thicknesses. The humble wires when stripped of their plastic sheaths reveal the brilliance of the copper hidden inside. These are works which conjure up the nature of textiles, permeable and transparent. The forms have a compulsive quality but are rigorously organized. They are two- and three-dimensional assemblages that through contrasts of color, material, line and surface, emphasize the metallic glow and luster of copper.
Since 2010, Horst Beyer has exhibited his work in solo as well as group exhibitions in Italy, Germany, Munich, Spain, Slovenia and China. His work was exhibited at the PRESENT ART FESTIVAL SHANGHAI in China in 2013 and 2014. He has participated in several editions of the BIENNALE DI GENOVA (International Exhibition of Contemporary Art), as well as in the annual art fair ARTEGENOVA. Beyer received the "CRITICS' PRIZE" at the 3rd International Contemporary Art Competition in Genoa (SATURA International Contest 2018). In 2021 he participated in the art fair ART PARMA FAIR in Italy and in the 9th edition of MONTECARLO BIENNALE. In 2023 he participates in the 2nd SCALVINI MUSEUM BIENNALE in Desio Italy.
Nato a Deggendorf, ha studiato dapprima storia dell'arte a Monaco di Baviera, in seguito ha intrapreso la carriera di informatico. Già da adolescente ha scoperto la sua passione per l'arte e la pittura, creando le sue prime opere ad olio e acquerello. In seguito sperimenta varie tecniche con materiali diversi.
Dal 2000 Horst Beyer vive in Toscana vicino a Firenze. Continua il suo lavoro artistico focalizzandosi sempre più su una tecnica unica: il design pittorico con cavi elettrici. Trovati inizialmente per puro caso sul ciglio di una strada i cavi elettrici si trasformano nella sua preziosa materia prima. Affascinato da questo materiale riciclato, apparentemente ordinario, inizia ad esplorarne le sue proprietà e potenzialità creando una meta-pittura consistente in un intreccio di fili elettrici di provenienze e spessori diversi che, spesso “scortecciati” dalla loro guaina di plastica, ne rivelano la lucentezza del rame al loro interno. Sono opere che hanno una natura tessile, traspirante e trasparente, formanti disegni compulsivi ma ricomposti in un algido ordine. Assemblaggi bidimensionali e tridimensionali che attraverso contrasti di colore, materiale, linea e superficie, enfatizzano il bagliore metallico e la lucentezza del rame.
Dal 2010, Horst Beyer ha esposto le sue opere in mostre personali e collettive in Italia, Germania, Monaco, Spagna, Slovenia e Cina. Alcuni dei suoi lavori sono stati esposti al PRESENT ART FESTIVAL SHANGHAI in Cina nel 2013 e nel 2014. Ha partecipato a diverse edizioni della BIENNALE DI GENOVA (Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Contemporanea), nonché alla fiera d'arte annuale ARTEGENOVA. Ha ricevuto il "PREMIO DELLA CRITICA" al 3° Concorso Internazionale d'Arte Contemporanea di Genova (SATURA International Contest 2018). Nel 2021 partecipa alla fiera d'arte ART PARMA FAIR in Italia e alla 9° BIENNALE DI MONTECARLO. Nel 2023 partecipa alla 2°BIENNALE MUSEO SCALVINI a Desio.
